April 2010
Good to be invited along by the Yatton Singers to be their guests as part of Yatton Music Festival. The singers, conducted by my wife Isabel, were their usual excellent selves [no... really.. they were ! :-) ] whilst we took the opportunity to play and sing our own original compositions in public for the first time.
May 2010
Invited by the local Liberal Democrats to entertain at their 'thank you' party after the General Election. Their candidate, Brian Mathew, had requested that we perform 'Everybody Needs Somebody To Love' (The Blues Brothers) which really stretched us!! We managed it on the night and got Brian and others up on the dance floor doing 'the dance'. Relieved when we successfully finished that number.
June 2010
The British Legion Strawberry Tea afternoon again. We really love this gig (Ian and Michael certainly do since they have to take an afternoon off work to be there). There seemed to be even more people present this year and we're discussing going there on other occasions apart from the annual Strawberry Tea. However, suddenly we're getting a gig a month (no complaints there) and life is a little busy.
July 2010
Congresbury Over 60's Club. Our first time for this audience of about 70 people from the local area, most of whom hadn't heard us before. They will be inviting us back they say! Excellent!
August 2010
Waverley Court, Portishead. Delighted to be asked back againfor the 80th birthday of one of the residents. Always a pleasure to play there and always an appreciative audience.
September 2010
St. Barnabus Church, Lower Claverham. This was a fund raising event for the Church and one of the times when we played outside (always potentially awkward when our electrics are involved). We were under a marquee and the weather was good! Only Dash suffered from having the sun on him and in his eyes, and a local friendly wasp!
This was the first time that we had a replacement in to the band for Dot, who was on holiday. It was a warm welcome to Isabel who sang and played on our newly purchased synthesiser. We had a lot of good comments about her contribution. Well done Isabel for stepping in to the breach.
October 2010
Yeo Valley Lions Club, meeting at Mendip Spring Golf & Country Club, between Churchill and Congresbury.
This was their 42nd Charter Anniversary, and we were asked to provide music from the 60's and 70's for them to dance to.
This was a slight departure for us. We usually entertain and frequently people get up and dance! However, we'd never been booked as a dance band before. Never the less it went really well and people got up and danced to a variety of music, including one of Dash's compositions.
Our thanks to Isabel for stepping in as a Dot again on the synthesiser. Again a number of complementary comments about her being inthe band, and many thanks from the Lions and their partners as they left. We did the job!
